Patinated Bronze Sculpture of the Roman God Mercury (known as Hermes in Greek mythology). Mercury (or Hermes) was the god of translators and interpreters. He served as messenger for all the other gods He ruled over wealth, good fortune, commerce, fertility and thievery. This statue is a 20th Century recreation of the famous statue done by Giambologna (Italian, 1529 - 1608) titled "Mercure". This bronze is unsigned. It measures overall (including the marble base) 32" high x 8" wide x 10" deep.
