COMMENTS: Dorthy Young Graham (1922 - 2002). Graham received a BA from Stephens College followed by a BFA (1942) from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, where she studied under Grant Wood (1891-1942). Additionally she studied with Fletcher Martin (1904-1979) and print making under Adolph Dehn (1895-1968) both of whom strongly influenced her work. Furthermore she studied under Robert Brackman (1898-1980) whose influence can also been seen in her work. She began to show in 1942 in Davenport, Iowa. After marrying in 1946 she and her husband relocated to Atkinson, Illinois where she had a studio built. In addition to exhibiting her work she received the Wagner Printing Company Purchase Award and the David Palmer Award.
