A Pedestal Desk is typically constructed of three sections - two "pedestal" sections that rest on the floor and a third flat top section that connects the two pedestals and provides the writing surface. Typicaly all three sections will contain pull out drawers. A "Partners Desk" is a type of "Pedestal Desk" but differs in that it is intended for two people to work facing each other. The Partners Desk will have drawers and compartments on two sides and will be finished on all four sides. The design for Partners Desk originated in 17th & 18th Century England and was first introduced to accommodate banking partners, solicitors and other senior business professionals who needed to work closely together.
